It’s a privilege to travel, let alone speak of it with only fondness and longing. For one night only, Philippine Tatler Traveller celebrates this luxury through “The Art of Luxury Travel.” The affair marks the launch of the magazine’s latest edition as it pays tribute to the many places that shaped its stories and writers.
Over 300 A-listers, stylish personalities, fashionable globetrotters, and industry bigwigs graced the event at the Raffles Makati Ballroom, where a delectable gourmet spread, a gin tonic bar, and Engkanto artisanal beer await. Philippine Tatler’s Managing Director Irene Martel Francisco and Tatler Traveller Editor Mia Borromeo were busy welcoming guests, while we explored the venue that transported us to places.
Travel-inspired vignettes mounted by global brands like Jewelmer, Okada, Rustan’s The Beauty Source, Philippine Airlines, and Bellevue Resorts adorn the walls, painting vivid portraits of some of our choicest destinations. It was well-earned sightseeing sans the pain of tired feet; it was the perfect ambience for a brief escape from the city.
The magazine’s latest luxe issue is not one to miss. The cover story was shot on location in Tokyo, Japan. Styled by Mia Borromeo herself, Happy Skin founder Rissa Mananquil Trillo fronts this volume shot by seasoned photographer Sara Black—three good friends of mine.
Wanderlust and surrender to it color this issue’s narratives. Cristalle Belo-Pitt recalls cold times on the slopes of Niseko, Hokkaido, while Stephanie Kienle-Gonzalez recounts being enchanted by enigmatic Sri Lanka. Curtis Chin shares his personal encounter with the Dalai Lama, and Ginggay Joven-dela Merced inspires with her victory over Mt. Pulag.
Guests didn’t only bring home a memory to remember, but some took home exciting raffle prizes that include business class trips to Hong Kong on Philippine Airlines and a grand prize of a round-trip ticket to Europe on Turkish Airlines.
It is, indeed, a beautiful time to keep traveling!
