It’s been months since we lost another legend.
As it was with David Bowie or Carrie Fisher, it’s hard to move on from Prince’s passing. It only felt like weeks have passed since I last listened to him in my retro get-up.
But music aside, I remember Prince best for his lasting beauty legacy. Let’s board the nostalgia train and revisit.
Curls
You can’t reminisce the ’80s without remembering Prince’s wild mane. Now he may not be the first to sport thick locks out there, he was a proud curlytop in an era of hairspray and frizz. He reintroduced volume sans the dryness, and proposed gloss and sheen instead.
Bold brows
You see, Cara Delevingne has her own brow situation; hers is the #goals we all aspired. But Prince’s is on a whole new level—much like everything else he represented.
Thick, black brows gave Brooke Shields’ bushy browns a run for her money. (Possibly, to go to the nearest brow salon, I bet.) Charcoal eyebrows might have looked chalky at some point, but Prince flaunted them just as well.
Cat Eye
Prince is the king of smoldering gazes. (Why he carries a stage name that’s a rank below his actual kingly influence is beyond me!) His brown eyes are the stuff of piercing stares, but nothing beats the high definition his eyeliner gives.
Though his eye shape is already a godsend, a properly applied cat eye makes all the difference. Prince most notably rocks a fierce, smudged eye. Then again, he looks just as good with a softer look and less pronounced wings.
Red Eye
Once upon a time, we didn’t know how to use those reddish hues on our eyes. We didn’t want to look like we’re growing a sty. But Prince, of course, knew how to sport them.
Prince, who was ahead of us all, knew that we have to apply it faintly and carefully. That a good peach or red-tinted shadow comes off great in small quantities.
Seriously, from his mad guitar skills to his topnotch trends, what else can’t this royal highness not do?
So long, Skipper. Your purple rain will go on.
