I’m a proud Filipino, but I get prouder when I see fellow Filipinos get the recognition they deserve. One of them is Paolo Roldan, a Filipino-Canadian dapper who recently became the face, muse, and stylist for designer Phillip Lim’s Fall 2017 Collection.
It wasn’t hard to miss Paolo’s face. If you’re following him and Phillip Lim already, just a quick scroll through your Instagram and you’ll find a series of newly released photos of Paolo staring intensely into the cam while donning leopard-print pajamas, leather jackets, and tailored basketball shorts.

This is a campaign unlike many others. While the habit has been employing models and styling them according to the designer’s vision, Phillip Lim asked Paolo to “self-style the collection as he would his personal wardrobe.” Paolo, who has been famous for his chiseled looks and swagger fashion, is just the right person to do the job. The clothes feel less intimidating and as Vogue.com writes, “feel grounded in reality.”

Phillip, on the other hand, is always keeping in step with his brand. Always mindful of practicality but also playful enough to subvert trends, his F/W 2017 collection is just realized perfectly with the right man and clothes to dress him with.
