Louis Vuitton, the mind behind those signature monogrammed bags and luggage, has dipped their toes in technology. After dominating the realm of fashion for decades, the luxury brand debuted its latest piece: the Tambour Horizon watch.
Deemed the most expensive in the world–for now–this Android smartwatch is a luxury timepiece made for the casual smartwatch wearer. Bad news? It’s a sizable investment. The good? All of us can benefit from it.
Everyone seems to underscore its steep price, but the features really are something else. With an emphasis on travel, the Tambour Horizon is an experience in itself. It comes with a Swiss-made monogrammed (of course!) leather strap and branded clasp–pretty much what you’d expect more from a mechanical watch than the regular, light smartwatch.
You can choose to view time in two ways, depending on what mode you’d like to do. If you want to conserve battery, simply tap the AMOLED screen and it will automatically go into mechanical mode. Flick your wrist and you’ll be in the digital mode. Cool so far? It does more.
It can locate where you are, connect to WiFi and Uber, track your flights, wake you up with a built-in alarm, track your steps, and even translate foreign language via the Google Translate app. Like a smartphone, you can customize your screen’s design as it lets you pick the style, color, and numerals you like.
It’s revolutionary how Louis Vuitton has digitized luxury further with this. I’m excited to see how my favorite luxury brands will take on the tech challenge. We never know–we might find smart dresses later in the future.
This is really making me want to get an Android phone now, too, just so I can connect my gadgets with this one. What do I buy first, guys?
