Revisiting “The September Issue”

Culture / September 05, 2017

September is the fashion world’s answer to January.

The month elicits as much excitement as the start of the new year. Or maybe, for the fashion-obsessed, September brings more promises of new beginnings and (more importantly) fresh picks. If you’ve ever picked up a magazine dated this month in whatever year, notice the thickness in pages. Look at all the advertorials sandwiched between those editorial pages. Experience all that fashion crammed in a single publication.

The September Issue, as it has been revered in the fashion and publishing industry, is a time for brands to debut their new fall look and perspective.

It also happens to be the topic and name of R.J. Cutler’s documentary film. “The September Issue,” starring Vogue’s very own Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington, is a classic must-watch for those who follow the industry. It takes a peek into the process of making the September 2007 issue of Vogue. Anna and Grace take centerstage, with the two often clashing heads and personalities.
