My 8 film picks from Netflix this April

These days I’m expanding my movie list. It’s the opportune time to watch different genres and go for picks you don’t usually choose. You might just find a new favorite.

For April, I’ve honed into the new movies Netflix is offering. There’s a mix of family-friendly ones and some serious films. Here what I’m placing on my “My List” tab:

#1 Coffee & Kareem  

This is an action-comedy about forging unexpected bonds, one four-letter insult at a time. Starring Ed Helms and Taraji P. Henson, co-starring Betty Gilpin, RonReaco Lee, Andrew Bachelor, and David Alan Grier. Now streaming!

#2 Love Wedding Repeat

This rom-com stars Sam Claflin, Olivia Munn, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joel Fry, Tim Key, Aisling Bea, Jack Farthing, Allan Mustafa, and Freida Pinto. It plays on the power of chance, as alternate versions of the same wedding unfold to create that perfect wedding day. Coming on April 10

#3 Sergio

Something to make you focus on human resiliency. The movie follows the character of Sergio Vieira de Mello (Wagner Moura) who’s career as a top UN diplomat consists of deftly navigating deals with presidents, revolutionaries, and war criminals for the sake of protecting the lives of ordinary people. Coming April 17

#4 Howl’s Moving Castle

Something to watch with your children or when you want to feel some child-like wonderment. A new addition to Netlfix’s Studio Ghibli offerings. Now streaming!

#5 Time to Hunt

A release to watch out for if you’re dabbling into Korean films. Time to Hunt is set in a dystopian city,. Jun-seok is released from prison and plans his next step in life in order to start anew with his friends Jang-ho, Ki-hoon and Sang-soo. Coming soon!

#6 Extraction

Chris Hemsworth fans unite! I think this will be a trending film as soon as it launches. An action-packed, edge-of-your-seat thriller directed by Sam Hargrave, produced by Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Mike Larocca, Chris Hemsworth, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin. Coming April 24

If you’re fueled by some ‘Money Heist’ fever, you’ll need to watch this! Now streaming

#8 Tigertail

If you’re in need of a good and intriguing story, this one is for you. The synopsis: In New York, Pin-Jui (Tzi Ma) reflects on the love of his past and his departure from Taiwan, which he revisits years later with his daughter Angela. Coming April 10
