There’s something inexplicably exciting about picking new homeware.
Unlike skincare, cosmetics, shoes, and clothes–which I all love–items for the home aren’t simply made to fit a taste. They’re crafted with scenes and settings in mind. A set of flashy plates, for instance, isn’t just for holding food for guests at a party. They’re designed to make silent statements, to ignite conversations, to perk up moods, to inject flavor to a room.
Hence, I love finding new labels that help gather some of the best in homeware right now. One name I’m loving is Guava Sketches.
Based in Singapore, Guava Sketches is a shop founded by sisters Jennifer and Joan Cantemprante. The name takes after Jennifer’s fond memories of the guava tree and Miles Davis’s Flamenco Sketches. They share my vision of what good stuff for the home should be: functional and stylish. Their passion, they write on their site, “started with an appreciation for well-made items, whose beauty is complemented by utility.” It certainly shows in their selection here.
Currently, they’re stocked up with items that range from collections and jewelry to kitchenware, furniture, and everyday homeware. If you’ve heard of them, they carry cool brands like Jimbobart, Brdr. Kruger, House Doctor, IFJ, and Gustavsberg too. Here are my personal favorites.
Don’t worry, they currently ship to Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Check out their site here and tell me which ones you’re eyeing!
