Today you can cop an ultimate when it comes to comfort and luxury. Manolo Blahnik x Birkenstock might make you pause for a bit before you give in and decide which pair you want.
In a statement, the famed shoe designer shares his love for the German footwear brand. “Birkenstocks have been in my wardrobe since the very beginning. I have loved and worn mine for many years. I am thrilled that we have been able to collaborate.”
After two years of not wearing any heels, and the status of Birkenstock among the uber-cool, the collaboration makes sense. Why not glorify the footwear that takes us from the house to the casual hang outdoors and through every day errands?
The collaboration sees the two-strapped Arizona sandal and Boston clog mule in three colorways and two new designs. Blahnik’s touches are seen in plush velvet in fuschia and sapphire blue for the straps and the overall look. The embellished silver clasp and black sole tie the Birkenstocks back to the signatures that gave Blahnik their covetable status.
This is not the first crossover Birkenstock has done with high-fashion labels and designers. reviously, there have been collections or designs with Rick Owens, Valentino, Celine, Proenza Schouler, Jil Sander, Toogood, and Stüssy.
