Versace isn’t for the faint of heart. Regardless of the current situation, Donatella Versace brings the flash, opulence, and escape in order to remind us that we can take control of our future.
The fashion house reaches another milestone in its decades-long story. Versace Philippines celebrates one year with Sarah Lahbati-Gutierrez, Nadine Lustre, Raymond Gutierrez, Kylie Versoza, and Alex Diaz McDermott. These five celebrities join a campaign that’s all about no-holds-barred sexiness—Versace’s signature. They don different pieces from the Versace Pre-Fall and Fall collections, and are united in the “Versace universe.”
In this space, it’s all about strength and being unapologetic. It’s after the spirit of Donatella. She believes in a wardrobe that’s all about confidence and being bold. With that in mind, each personality in this campaign starred in pieces that show off their fearlessness.
Sarah wears “the little black dress of 2020”—a black slim-fit leather minidress cinched at the waist, matching black leather booties, and mini cell phone sling bag.
Sarah follows this up with a sweeter version of herself, combining a blue and red rose-print knit cardigan, feminine shorts, and a bold red tote embellished with the Barocco “V” from the House’s Virtus handbag line.
Even on days off, Mond brings it with a racy black ensemble: a fitted T-shirt with a gold Via Gesu nameplate—as found on the façade of the Versace Milan main showroom—front and center on the chest, paired with Versace logo waistband trousers, newly introduced this season with the Virtus logo. Tying the look together are dark sunglasses with gold accents on the arms and the new two-toned (palladium and Tribute Gold) Medusa necklace, worn Mafioso-style.
As night approaches, Mond is in a breezy black, white, and gold heritage-inspired Barocco shirt left unbuttoned and pulled together by the same Medusa chain and sunglasses. Bringing a fresh perspective to the iconic Barocco print, the shirt features a rejuvenated motif of gold-tone acanthus leaves and spotted leopards.
Then there’s Nadine. Her diversity and on-the-go vibe match the leather silhouette that originates from the signature biker jacket, spliced into a moto-inspired miniskirt, which pairs with a top from the FW2020 collection with a “slash” detail to show off her décolletage. Strappy black sandals complete the biker chick look.
Embodying a uniform of bold color and statement pattern play, Nadine’s blazer features a rose print that is a central theme of Versace’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection that blooms throughout the men’s and women’s collections. Traditionally a symbol of purity and romance, the vibrant flower is woven into the heritage-check fabric, enriching the tailoring with its urban silhouette. In keeping with this thread of ease and effortless cool, her black military-style boots with gold safety pin detailing and gold jewelry seal her “rocker chick” deal.
Kylie brings raw and unfettered sex appeal to the famous song, “Versace on the Floor.” She goes for a black dress held tenuously together by gold Medusa buttons. Completing the look are spindly stilettos with sexy ankle straps as well as her elegant black Virtus saddlebag.
Kylie is also showing off the new quilted Virtus handbag, the new shape of the season. For her third look, it’s a silk striped blouse with a Barocco print and light blue chest panel. Adding an extra touch of sexy, this is paired with gold earrings and leather black booties with a low, skinny heel.
Scottish-Filipino Alex is a singer, host, actor, dancer and indoor cycling instructor who explores the iconic Versace motif in the Optical Virtus print shirt crafted in plush silk twill. Influenced by optical art and the brand’s archival theatre costume designs, here, the letter “V” is surrounded by graphic Barocco elements. The look is paired with dark skinny jeans, a black chain, a leather crossbody sling and loafers.
A more laid-back Alex finds himself in a long-sleeved sporty top, chunky white Chain Reaction sneakers with gold lamé at the bottom and the ultra-luxe travel-size embossed Barocco leather duffel—the perfect look for a morning of golf or a weekend away on a private yacht.
